Friday
Evening .....
At 6:30 pm arrive for your welcome reception, assignment
of cabins and berths, facilities orientation, and review
of the next days objectives and activities. From 8 pm to
9 pm your instructor will be viewing the DVD "Sailing
Fundamentals" as a mandatory session of your course.
It's
9 pm and with a busy day ahead, it’s time for a short
evening walk or nightcap at one of the local establishments-
steps away from the Marina. If you are staying aboard try to be back at our slip to
board before 11pm to ensure you have enough rest for a busy
physical day on Saturday. We provide fresh sleeping bags,
pillows and towels for your comfort.
Alternatively, you may
choose to stay at one of the
downtown hotels Vancouver is so well known for. The West
End, Yale Town, Coal Harbor, lower Granville and Kitsilano
are all within walking or short transit ride to the Marina
(see
map of Vancouver).
Saturday
Morning.....
Wake up each morning before 7:30 and stroll down the dock
noting the diversity of boats that line your way up to the
marina office landing. Use the Marinas secure, large, clean
washrooms and showers. Take a run or walk on the seawall
for miles returning to your yacht for a continental breakfast
served at 8 am consisting of chilled juices, fresh fruit,
cereals, fresh baked muffins, scones, tea and coffee.
Relax topsides and take in the view of the sea life and
the modern architecture of Yaletown while sipping your coffee
and getting to know your fellow sailing students. Leisurely
review your course topics. Your instructor arrives at 9
am to review the itinerary and begin a full day of sailing
activity on nearby English Bay and Howe Sound. We provide
box lunches for students at mid- day.

On our first day we get familiarized with the working components
of the boat, using terminology to communicate helm and crew
skills for the basic sailing maneuvers . Students begin
to sailing the boat and understand safety and “rules
of the road”.
We return to our slip before 1630 hrs and after the boat
is secured and daily maintenance is performed you will be
able to confirm your plans for the evening. Ask your instructor
for suggestions.
Saturday
Evening.....
Your night out in Vancouver!
Our marina’s location is central to abundant entertainment,
restaurants, coffee shops, Granville Market and to beautiful
seaside parks and sand beaches.
Of special note is the Wicklow
Public House- great people,
food and music which is steps away from the entrance to
our marina. Steps away on the opposite side of the Marina
entrance is Monk`s Restaurant which is a
Vancouver landmark, renowned for its service, seafood, wine
cellar and spring and summer deck over hanging the False
Creek.

After dinner we recommend boarding a mini-ferry for a tour
of False Creek or a short ride to Yaletown for every kind
of world class entertainment. Plan to be back at our slip
to board before 2300 hrs to ensure you have enough rest
for the final day of sailing.
All Day
Sunday.....
You are experts on how to get around
the marina by now and enjoy breakfast
and the instructor briefing . With a student at the helm
and the crew assisting we leave the dock at 0930 hrs for a full
day of instruction and skill certification. Your instructor
demonstrates all of the required maneuvers and helps each
student learn to sail, dock and maneuver in close quarters.
At 3 pm conditions are often right to anchor for the last
time off scenic Kitsilano Beach and complete the final phase
of our course- write the ASA 101 certification examination.
Upon successful completion your instructor writes the first
entries into your new ASA Log Book and prepares individual
SLTS Plan to guide you in the next steps of your sailing
education. more.
Taking our time on the way back to our slip, you are asked
to prepare to disembark with your belongings and meet our
transportation van for a ride to the Vancouver International
Airport leaving at 5:00pm or continue on to another BC adventure.
